Medical weight loss means working with a registered doctor to manage your weight safely. It is not a celebrity detox, a social-media meal plan, or a supplement stack sold without assessment. Your doctor reviews your health history, checks conditions that affect weight, and builds a plan you can follow at home — with follow-up when things need adjusting.
In plain terms
You get a clinical assessment, personalised advice, and ongoing support — not just a generic calorie target from an app.
How it differs from DIY dieting
- A doctor checks whether weight is linked to thyroid issues, diabetes, medications, or other conditions.
- Plans are adjusted for your lifestyle — shift work, eating out, halal preferences, and family meals.
- Medication is considered only when appropriate, with pricing explained before you proceed.
- Progress is tracked over time (not judged on a single weigh-in).
When it makes sense
Consider a medical weight programme if your BMI is in the overweight or obese range, if you have tried diets without lasting results, or if weight is affecting blood pressure, blood sugar, sleep, or joint pain. Dr Amir will tell you honestly if you need hospital care, specialist referral, or in-person examination instead of a GP-led telehealth plan.
- BMI 25+ with other risk factors (e.g. high blood pressure, pre-diabetes)
- Weight regain after previous successful dieting
- Need for structured accountability and medical oversight
- Interest in our 21-day programme with one month of monitoring
